In astrology, Chiron the asteroid represents our deepest wounds. The aspect of ourselves that we have come here to learn all about, and eventually master in our life times. Put another way it is the part of our natal chart which can show us the potential for huge transformation in our lives, and also unlock the key to our full potential.
The Wounded Healer
On February 18, 2019 Chiron enters Aries to stay here until 2027. This is going to be one of the most significant transits of the year. Chiron is very much connected to Carl Jung’s archetype of the wounded healer relating to the Greek legend of Asclepius who through the recognition of his own wounds ended up founding a retreat where others could be healed of their wounds and pain.
For the last 9 years Chiron has been transiting through the sign of Pisces. This has provided us with so much potential for huge transformation. And in my case, this is completely true. I have found myself experiencing several years of exponential growth. I have learned so much about the core inner workings of my personality and character.
Many times it felt as if the universe was testing me and I often felt like I was a victim of my circumstance. This victim mentality is very Piscean in energy, which is all set to change dramatically with this shift into Aries. Pisces, being the last sign of the zodiac can mark the end of something, and Aries as the first very much marks the start of a new cycle.
In Aries, Chiron will very much shift our focus to the self, and our identity, asking us to develop the self-confidence to follow our dreams. Rather than seeing ourselves as the victim of our lives, Chiron in Aries will help us take ownership for our pain and suffering. Ultimately it is this understanding that can bring about true healing. Nobody can heal us but ourselves.
We are all born with a unique mission and purpose, and hopefully by the end of this transit we’ll all be a lot clearer on what that is.
